Chrysler Confirms that the Fiat Doblo Will Come to the U.S., Will Launch as a Ram in 2013
While Ford?s Transit Connect sales have been merely decent since the van’s arrival on our shores, Chrysler?s Ram brand is ready to provide competition in the compact European transplant commercial van segment. (Perhaps it hopes just as much as Ford does that Americans will soon take notice.) Today, Ram?s future model took a step toward [...]
Hirvonen takes win and gains on Loeb
Mikko Hirvonen claimed Ford's first World Rally Championship victory for nine rounds in Australia, after a rally that began with rain and chaos, and ended with a flurry of team orders. Ford ended its drought in emphatic style, with Hirvonen's team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala coming home second. The team had not won since the season-opener in Sweden, but Hirvonen's consistency in the interim meant that the Australian result brought him straight back into title contention - placing him 15 points behind Sebastien Loeb with three rallies to go

Luis One Step Closer To World Title
In an action packed 47 laps of the 4.048 mile virtual Road America, Hugo Luis held off a spirited attack in the closing minutes to seal his fourth win of the iRacing.com Nvidia Grand Prix Series and further increase his lead in the World Championship standings. As the green flag dropped, Luis made the jump on Greger Huttu, who saw his pole-position immediately evaporate as he struggled to get traction off the line; and by the time the current Champion reached Turn One, he was surrounded by a swarm of My3id FW31s. Whilst Luis sailed off into the distance, the sister cars of Klaus Kivekas, Jesse Nieminen and then David Williams pushed Huttu down to fifth spot with passes at the opening bends and Turn-Five, where the Team Redline pilot [...]

Alonso takes all-time Rankings high
Fernando Alonso displaced Mark Webber for second place in the Castrol EDGE Rankings after a well-earned podium at Ferrari's home race of Monza. Remarkably that represents an all-time high for the double world champion, with the Rankings being introduced after the last of his drivers' crowns in 2006. The race was won in typically dominant fashion by Sebastian Vettel, who now has a seemingly unshakeable lead in both the 2011 championship and the Rankings

Title Tension at Suzuka
Week Six of the iRacing V8 Supercar series by Bigpond Sport headed north to iRacing?s new Suzuka Circuit for the first time. It meant starting from scratch with no existing setup data, here at the full 5.8 kilometres of the Suzuka GP track. At the halfway mark of the iRacing V8 Supercar Series, as expected, a tight battle is unfolding at the sharp end of the points ladder. Mitchell McLeod leads by a slender 13 points from Madison Down, with Rens Broekman and Mick Claridge not far behind. Even with points up for grabs in other splits and timeslots, regular participation in the ?Monday Night Main? and consistent finishes, certainly pays off. The form guide continued at Suzuka, it was Down who poled with a time of 2:03.914, the only [...]

Montezemolo not against pay TV
Formula 1 should not be afraid of looking at further pay TV opportunities in the future, even if it means that fans are not able to watch every race live without paying for it. That is the view of Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, who believes that shared broadcasting deals, like that agreed between the BBC and Sky, are not of too much concern for him as long as the sport never switches exclusively to subscription-only networks.

Pirelli seeks tyre allocation change
Pirelli is ready to approach the FIA to seek a change in Formula 1's tyre regulations for next year in a bid to cut down on wasted sets of hard compound rubber, after so far failing to secure the support of teams for such a move. One of the main areas of concern for Pirelli about its F1 programme this year has been the way that the tyre rules - and the way teams have ended up using the rubber - mean that after the race the Italian company is being forced to scrap hard tyres that never get used.

Alonso: Safety car helped Vettel
Fernando Alonso believes that the four laps spent behind the safety car during the Belgian Grand Prix turned the race in favour of Sebastian Vettel. The Red Bull driver had already made two pitstops by the time the safety car was deployed following the accident between Lewis Hamilton and Kamui Kobayashi, whereas the then leader Alonso had made only one stop and was forced to give away some of his advantage by running at slow speeds.
