Carpenter elated with maiden win
An elated Ed Carpenter said scoring his breakthrough IndyCar victory felt better than he could ever have predicted. Carpenter triumphed in a thrilling last-gaps duel with Dario Franchitti, taking the chequered flag just 0.0098s ahead of the Scot.

Leimer again on top in Jerez test

Peugeot 1-2 in Petit first practice
Peugeot got its 2011 Petit Le Mans campaign off to a perfect start by sealing a 1-2 finish in a truncated first practice at Road Atlanta. Audi had set the pace for much of the session, which had to be extended by 30 minutes after lengthy repairs to the wall and fencing were needed following a clash between the No.11 JDX Porsche and the No.24 Oak Pescarolo-Judd - which reported a brake failure - at Turn 5. When the session finally resumed Tom Kristensen kept Audi ahead until Peugeot made their move with 20 minutes remaining
Molina tops first Valencia practice
Miguel Molina warmed up for his home round of the DTM by setting the pace in the opening practice session at Valencia. The Spaniard took his old-spec Abt Audi to the top of the timesheets in 1m31.770s just 20 minutes into the session, and was never headed as temperatures increased on a dry afternoon
